Inspired by something I saw on Pinterest and using the Rhonna Farrer app I created this phone wallpaper as a personal reminder. 🌿 See my stories for the full size and feel free to screen shot it and use it yourself. Honestly, I’ve been dreading this 5K all week, because of the weight I’ve gained, the fact that I wasn’t going to be able to run the whole thing and just how heavy I feel when I run. I couldn’t even sleep well last night because of the nerves and feelings of failure. ________________________ This morning I woke up wishing it was over already so I could go on with my day. __________________________ When we got to the course I started to feel a little more excited. There’s something about a race atmosphere that is thrilling. And as I began running I felt fine. And folks ... I ONLY WALKED ONCE for maybe 2 minutes going up a steep hill at the beginning! According to my Apple Watch I finished in 41:29. 🎉 __________________________ I chose not to use my interval timer and just see how I could do. And as I kept plugging along I felt fine. Now, part of that was due to the cold weather — I run best in cooler temps and it was 38 F when we started. The other part was how enjoyable this run was. There were walkers and slower runners like myself at the back of the pack, along with families running together. When the first mile dinged on my watch I was shocked at how fast it seemed. It was so fun for me taking in all the different types of people running and watching parents encourage and herd their kids. 🙂 The neighborhood and then final mile through the zoo were beautiful as well. 😍 __________________________ Last night I was prepared to not be proud of myself, but today I’m super proud. I’m proud I didn’t give up on the race before it even started and I’m super proud I was able to run almost all of it. I surpassed my goal. Glory! __________________________ Credits: 😜 Thank you to my husband who isn’t on IG and is faithful to listen to me whine and even got up early to take us so I didn’t have to drive and figure out where to park. And to my friends who encourage me to keep going — my Monday morning WW meeting especially for listening to me and continually making me feel loved and accepted. And God, this morning I sat with my coffee and asked You for strength and I made it. I’m truly grateful. ❤️🙏🏻😌Ft. Worth Zoo Run 5K __________________________ It was freezing cold this morning (38 degreesF) and that bothered my son’s knee a lot, but we did it! ❤️ I’m very proud of us. 👟
